i love not man the less, but nature more...

with my brother into the woods and exploring bear mountain; he is my favorite person. an afternoon of exploring caves and uncovering old water mills; climbing rocks and skipping stones. talking books and blaring music from his pickup truck. it is my favorite way to pass any day.
i've missed him.

"there is pleasure in the pathless woods,
there is rapture on the lonely shore,
there is society where none intrudes,
by the deep sea and the music in its roar;
i love not man the less, but Nature more."

Lord Byron

i saw the signs as i drove home from the city this morning. one of the 100 acre plots next to my parent's home is being sold. it is the only one not belonging to a nature reserve. i never thought the old woman would leave her ancient plot. i am so compelled to preserve it and my stony street. as children we built teepees and learned every acre. i doubt i will ever feel as sane or more connected to the universe elsewhere.

GOD FUCKING DAMNIT I HATE YOU FUCKING INTERNET SAVE MY FUCKING COMMENTS NEXT TIME

I compared your sorrow felt for the potential loss of a nice wooded lot on your street the the loss of the entire country, as the native am's experienced it...

the coup de gras was a question. why do people strive to own things at all? are we the only species that spends their life striving to own things? do we consider the things we own (land) to be extensions of ourselves? do some of us consider things we do not know to nonetheless be extensions of ourselves?

is this all just a dream?

your remark has made me wonder: are all relationships to distinguish ownership, for means of generating power and therefore survival?
